Local children visiting the native house in 2015

The Mangyongdae native house, situated just outside of Pyongyang is the alleged birthplace and family home of the North Korean leader Kim Il-Sung, a wide reaching and well kept park has been built around the house.

The home, a reconstruction, depicts Kim Il-Sung's family as humble and poor farmers, with a number of objects and farm tools on display apparently belonging to them. The historical accuracy of the home however has been questioned, for records show Kim Il-Sung was born in a middle class family and his father was a Christian Pastor; as well as the fact that he spent a considerable amount of his childhood outside of the country, in China.
